Description: hydria, vase painting, Attica – Material: terracotta – Artist: Lysippides Painter – Dating: -520/-510 – Discovery: unknown – Description: Schulterbild: Kampf Achilles (rechts, mit Schild und Speer) gegen Memnon (links, mit böotischem Schild und Speer) um den Leichnam des Antilochos (im Zentrum, fällt rückwärts auf seinen Schild). Die Kämpfer sind flankiert von ihren Müttern (links Eos, rechts Thetis), dahinter jeweils ein Reiter. Hauptbild: Links Athena nach rechts, mit Helm und Ägis, Speer in rechter Hand, linke Hand erhoben. Rechts von ihr Herakles nach rechts, mit Löwenfell, Köcher, Schwert in Scheide, Keule und Kette in rechter Hand, mit linker Hand eine Schnauze des zweiköpfigen Kerberos berührend, der rechts von ihm steht. Hinter dem Kerberos steht Hermes nach rechts, Kopf zurückgewandt, rechte Hand erhoben, mit Kerykeion, Petasos und Flügelschuhen.
