Devant lui, au sol, est en train de prendre forme l’image du vieux Teiresias; Parisurteil; Athena, die Schild und Helm abgelegt hat, wäscht sich an einem Brunnenhaus (in Übereckansicht, Basis, 4 ionische Säulen, Löwenkopfwasserspeier, Deckplatte), dessen sakraler Charakter mittels zahlreicher Votivgaben (u.a. Figurinen) angedeutet ist, darunter 2 an der Rückwand hängende, verzierte Pinakes. Das obere ist mit Schrift versehen, das untere trägt die Darstellung einer weiblichen Gestalt, vielleicht die der Quellheiligtumsgöttin.

Hinter dem Kerberos steht Athena mit Schild. Rechts vom Kerberos ein Jüngling (Iolaos?). Seite B: Zwei Reiter (Dioskuren?), frontal, zwischen zwei Frauen. Im Zentrum ein weisser Hund.

Description: sarcophagus, relief, Rome – Dating: 180/190 – Discovery: (not specified) – Description: In der Mitte Althaia mit wehendem Mantel, die mit abgewandtem Blick das Holzscheit in das Feuer auf dem Altar hält (rechteckiger Blockaltar mit profilierter Deckplatte in Übereckansicht). Hinter dem Altar eine Erinye mit einer brennenden Fackel, links daneben eine Frau, die ihren l. Fuss auf ein Rad stellt. Sie hält eine Tafel und einen Griffel in der Hand, um das Los der Althaia und ihres Sohnes aufzuschreiben (Koch: Moire, Simon (LIMC): Nemesis). Auf den rechts anschliessenden Szenen ist der Tod des Meleager und die Tötung der Thestiaden durch Meleager zu erkennen. – Dimensions: H. 0,74. L. 2,05. T. 0,98.
