Description: tankard, toreutics, Roman – Material: silver – Dating: 14/37 – Discovery: Boscoreale – Description: Tiberiusbecher aus Boscoreale: Rechtsläufige Prozession mit vier bekränzten Liktoren (mit fasces und Äxten), einem Pferdeführer, zwei victimarii mit Stier und Triumphalquadriga, auf der Tiberius steht. Er trägt ein Adlerszepter und einen Zweig in der Hand, hinter ihm steht ein ihn bekränzender Staatssklave. Der Wagenkasten ist mit einer Victoria mit Schild und einer weiblichen Figur verziert. Dem Wagen folgt eine Gruppe von Soldaten mit torques (dona militaria) und Zweigen. Der Stier trägt eine dreieckige Kopfbedeckung (frontale), auf der ein Adler abgebildet ist. Anschliessend eine Stieropferszene mit Tiberius am Räucheraltar (foculus) in der Mitte, rechts daneben drei popae bei der Schlachtung des Stieres, von denen einer den Stier an den Hörnern hält, die anderen beiden tragen Axt und Opfermesser (culter). Links schliessen zwei Männer ohne Attribute und zwei Liktoren mit fasces und Äxten an, zwei weitere Liktoren stehen hinter dem Altar. Im Hintergrund ein Tempel in Übereckansicht: sehr hohes, abgestuftes Podium aus Quadermauerwerk mit einer unten r. eingelassenen rechteckigen Tür. Frontseite (mit Girlande dekoriert) mit vier Säulen (Ordnung unklar), tiefe Vorhalle, seitlich Cellamauerwerk. Der Giebelschmuck (Adler auf Globus) kennzeichnet das Gebäude als Iuppiter-Tempel (Kapitol? Iuppiter Feretrius?). Vegetabiler Firstakroter. Angabe der Dachziegel. R. Langseite durch Eckpilaster und Mauerwerk angegeben.

Im Hintergund l. neben einem Tor (Porta Triumphalis?) der Tempel der Fortuna in Schrägansicht (sechstufiges Podium, Vorhalle mit vier korinthischen (Komposit-?) Säulen, dahinter Cellawand mit Tür in der Mitte (Giebel ohne Schmuck, vermutlich bei einer späteren Rekonstruktion weggelassen). Der die Cella-Langseite (mit Dachwiedergabe) vorn l. begrenzende Pilaster steht irrtümlich auf Stufen. Diese wurden bei einer späteren Überarbeitung (damnatio memoriae des Commodus, der vor Marc Aurel in der Quadriga gestanden haben dürfte) des Reliefs dort falsch angebracht.

Description: relief, relief, Rome – Material: marble – Dating: 161/192 – Discovery: Rome – Description: Marc Aurel in Triumphalqadriga, von einer Victoria bekränzt und von zwei jungen Männern begleitet (einer davon eine Trompete spielend). Auf dem currus im oberem Register Neptun, sitzende Juno/Roma, Minerva, im unteren zwei Victorien mit Schild. Im Hintergund l. neben einem Tor (Porta Triumphalis?) der Tempel der Fortuna in Schrägansicht (sechstufiges Podium, Vorhalle mit vier korinthischen (Komposit-?) Säulen, dahinter Cellawand mit Tür in der Mitte (Giebel ohne Schmuck, vermutlich bei einer späteren Rekonstruktion weggelassen). Der die Cella-Langseite (mit Dachwiedergabe) vorn l. begrenzende Pilaster steht irrtümlich auf Stufen. Diese wurden bei einer späteren Überarbeitung (damnatio memoriae des Commodus, der vor Marc Aurel in der Quadriga gestanden haben dürfte) des Reliefs dort falsch angebracht.
