Description: pelike, vase painting, red figured, Attica – Material: terracotta – Artist: Pan Painter – Dating: -470 – Discovery: Boeotia – Description: In der Mitte ein Altar (zweistufige Krepis, niedrige Standplatte, rechteckiger Altarkörper an dessen oberen Abschluss Kymation, Volutenplatte, Feuerschutzplatte= Epipyron), davor links Herakles, der einen Ägypter an den Knöcheln über seinen Kopf werfen will, die Keule an den Altar gelehnt. Rechts Busiris auf den Knien mit erhobenen Armen, um den Schlag abzuwehren. Hinter dem Altar ein Priester mit grossem Hammer aus Holz, der zum Schlag gegen Herakles ausholt. Ganz rechts Messer und kanoun am Boden. Auf der Rückseite drei Priester auf der Flucht mit Messerscheide, Tisch und Spiess sowie einer Hydria. – Dimensions: H: 0,37 m

Description: helmet, arms – Material: bronze – Dating: -27/68 – Discovery: Pompei – Description: Gladiatorenhelm. Auf dem Helmaufsatz: Einweihung eines Mysten in die dionysischen Mysterien: Links unter Baum (Pinie) Priaposherme nach links auf Fels, links davon stehende Figur mit erhobenen Händen (hält etwas), rechts vor Altar kniende Figur. Links anschliessend Opfertisch (Gefässe darauf, Gefäss darunter). In der Mitte Einweihungshandlung (gleicher Typus wie auf zwei Campanareliefs): Silen mit Liknon; der Myste in vorgebeugter Haltung, von einer Frau am Kopf gehalten, die sich zum Silen mit Liknon umwendet; von rechts hinzuschreitende Figur (Frau), die ein Tympanon hochhält (und offenbar daraufschlägt). Rechts an den Hinterbeinen aufgehängtes Opfertier, das von einem Mann aufgeschnitten wird, darunter eine Becken. Darunter weitere Szene mit Kultbild, Altar, vorgebeugter Figur, Opferstier?, Vorhang.
