Description: crater: volute crater, vase painting, red figured, Attica – Material: terracotta – Artist: Niobid Painter – Dating: -460/-450 – Discovery: unknown – Description: (A), col: jeune avec deux lances poursuit vers la droite deux femmes regardant dans sa direction. Une troisième femme derrière lui fuit vers la gauche. Aux deux extrémités de ce groupe deux vieillards. La scène est encadrée à gauche par une femme gesticulant devant un autel rectangulaire aux volutes sur un krepis de deux marches, tâché de sang (sur lequel brûle un feu) et derrière lequel pousse un palmier. De l’autre côté une femme debout et colonne. Panse: départ de guerrier. Dans une maison – indiqué par une colonne cannelée et un architrave dorique – une femme donne la main droite à un jeune guerrier, dans l’autre, elle porte un casque. À côté d’elle, une deuxième femme fait une libation avec une patéra. Sur le même côté trois femme et un vieil homme. (B), col: femmes. Panse: départ de guerrier: il s’agit du fils d’Achill, Neoptolemos, qui part de Skyros.
